Therapy for Dissociative Experiences / Identities

Do these experiences sound familiar?

  • It’s been hard to stay present or connected to your bodily experiences

  • You’re used to your attention being split between present reality and memories, your imagination, and/or other mental activities

  • You sometimes lose access to memories, skill sets, or other capacities

  • Your surroundings or other people feel “not real” sometimes

  • It feels like someone or something else is controlling your thoughts and actions

  • You sometimes suddenly feel smaller, younger, or more vulnerable

  • It feels like there are "many different people" inside you, who strongly influence you (or even "take control over you") from inside

There are always valid reasons why our nervous systems protect us with dissociative experiences. But that doesn’t make them any less disruptive and painful.

“Dissociation” essentially means “severing” in some way from an experience. There’s a whole spectrum of dissociative experiences we could have, and many serve a function of psychological protection.

I can partner with you to uncover and learn how your dissociative experiences are trying to protect you. Together, we could befriend and study your unique nervous system and inner world, so that we learn what you most need to feel safer. Because when your nervous system and inner world feel safer, you’ll have less intense and fewer disruptive dissociative experiences.

I can support you towards more interconnectedness (inside of you and outside of you). As a next step, reach out for a 15-minute consultation call.

  • We’ll study and learn about the inner dynamics of your unique plural system. We’ll listen closely every step of the way for how other aspects of your system are responding to our work together. We’ll uplift and partner with all aspects of your system to bring more inner collaboration and coordination, at a pace that feels safe. And we’ll be curious about what each aspect of your system needs to feel more secure in its role and function.

Approaches That Make A Difference

Non-pathologizing & non-judgmental

We’ll help it all make sense (without reinforcing stories about “defectiveness”). So that you feel safer and more able to receive the benefits of the work.

Mindfulness-based

Mindfulness is powerfully backed by research and ancient wellness and healing practices. Brain-imaging studies even show how protective and transformative it can be.

Somatic

We’ll partner with and involve the body. Because our bodies hold so much history and wisdom.

Parts Work

We’ll befriend and learn from different aspects of you what’s needed to feel safer. With consistent practice, there will be less of a need for chronic, disruptive dissociation.

Let’s connect, as a next step!
